With the new year underway you might be trying to find a way that you can motivate your employees and help get them through the last few months of winter.

With the new year underway you might be trying to find a way that you can motivate your employees and help get them through the last few months of winter.

If you’re thinking of organising a team building day you may want to take a leaf out of Manchester United’s book, with the North-West Evening Mail recently reporting that the Premier League’s youth team spent a day in the Lake District doing team building activities.

According to the newspaper, the rising stars of the under-18s squad travelled to the county for a day away from the training ground.

During their day out, they tried their hand at abseiling and kayaking – both great activities to take you out of your comfort zone and to encourage you to be supportive of your colleagues as you tackle these challenges.

Of course, you don’t have to go to the Lake District, you can head to any number of the UK’s beauty spots for these kinds of day out. Team building in the Peak District is a great option if you’re based around this area and don’t want to have to travel too far.

Last year, an article for Business Computing World suggested that team building days in the great outdoors are a particularly good option for office-based staff, because it takes them out of their usual routine and environment.

It’s an especially good idea if your team is feeling demoralised, because getting some fresh air and spending time in natural surroundings can give them the boost they need and help them regain some of their motivation when they get back to the office.
