Course in detail
Level 1
Level 1 provides a short introduction to sailing for novices. By the end of the course, you will have a basic understanding of how to control a sailing dinghy, including turning, sailing into and away from the wind, what to wear, necessary safety equipment, and essential knots.
It is advised to consolidate this introduction with the Level 2 – Basic Skills course and the Level 3 – Better Sailing course.
The course lasts 16 hours over 2 days. Our sessions are run in single-handed dinghies.

Level 2
When you complete level 2, you will have basic knowledge of sailing in light winds. It is assumed that you already have the knowledge and skills from Level 1 – Start Sailing.
You will cover skills such as sailing upwind and downwind effectively, sailing in close company, coming alongside, man-overboard recovery, having a basic understanding of racing, and completing a capsize recovery in controlled conditions.
The course is 16 hours over 2 days. Sessions will be run in single-handed dinghies.

Level 3
Level 3 helps build your confidence and develop the skills needed to sail in different directions in moderate conditions. It assumes you already have the knowledge and skills from Level 2. This course covers improved rigging, sailing theory, launching and recovery, and building confidence in various sailing techniques on all points of sail and capsize recovery.
The course lasts 16 hours over 2 days. Sessions will be run in single-handed dinghies.
